What’s iPhone X

First of all, if you have been calling the Apple flagship iPhone ‘ex’ stop doing it right now. It is iPhone ‘ten’ and not ‘ex’. But, if ‘ex’ sounds cool to you, no one will stop you from saying that.

Well, iPhone X is supposed to be the smartphone that breaks all stereotypes. The new 5.8 inches big OLED screen is too large and simply unmatched. According to Apple, this screen uses a completely new design technology and makes the colors pop.

But, that’s not the only thing X is making ripples for. It is the first ever smartphone in the iPhone series to do away with the Home Button. This means that it is all screen on the front covered by a thin (and almost non-existent) bezel around the edges. And, it uses the Face ID technology to unlock.

Storage Capacity

There isn’t a lot to choose from here. All the three models are available in two variants – 64 GB and 256 GB. It goes without saying that the latter will cost more (way more).

64 GB is pretty good for most users. Especially, if you are regularly backing up, you can afford to delete some stuff and keep the space available. However, if you have 256GB storage capacity, there is no denying that you will not need to worry about space running out for a long time.

Display

When it comes to display, iPhone X is a clear winner here.

First of all, it features a larger, 5.8 inch screen as opposed to 4.7 and 5.5 for 8 and 8 Plus respectively. X also uses a superior technology with Super Retina HD Display. The other two iPhones feature Retina HD Display only (without ‘Super’).

iPhone X offers a better resolution as well – 2436/1125 pixel at 458 ppi. iPhone 8 and 8 Plus offer the resolution of 1334/750 (326 ppi) and 1920/1080 (401ppi).

X also has an exceptionally better contrast ratio as well at 1,000,000:1. iPhone 8 and 8 Plus offer the contrast ratio of 1400:1 and 1300:1 respectively.

Processor and RAM

All three iPhones run on the same processor. They use the latest technology A11 Bionic processor built on the 64-bit architecture. The processor features Neural Engine for faster processing. The chip also has an embedded motion co-processor named M11.

iPhone X has higher capacity RAM of 3GB. The other two models, on the other hand, feature 2 gigs RAM.

Camera

iPhone X and 8 Plus feature the same 12MP camera capable of capturing wide-angle and telphoto images. Both offer the aperture range of f/2.8 to f/1.8. The camera offers limited optical zoom. It also has the digital zoom of up to 10x. Portrait mode is also available in the camera.

iPhone 8 camera offers 12MP resolution capacity. However, it does not have the telephoto capacity. It also has fixed aperture at f/1.8. Optical zoom is absent and digital zoom goes up to 5X only.

Differences end here. The cameras on all three models offer optical image stabilization, noise reduction, exposure control, face and body detection, burst mode, photo geo-tagging, and timer mode.

Video Recording

Apple has taken mobile video recording to a complete new level with these new releases. You can now record 4K quality videos at the fps rate of 24, 30 and 60. For 1080p video recording, 30 and 60 fps options are available. If you record the video in 720p HD, 30 fps is the only option.

All three models offer optical image stabilization and optical zoom during video recording. iPhone 8 and X also offer digital zoom up to 6X. You can also create time laps videos. The cameras also support slo-mo recording.

The cameras record the videos in the H.264 and HEVC formats. All in all, the new models offer video recording quality that comes quite close to some DSLR cameras.

Finish and Design

iPhone X will be available in 2 color variants – Space Gray and Silver. Besides Space Gray and Silver, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are also available in Gold finish.

These iPhones are dust resistant and keep the shine for longer duration. They have also been designed to be splash and water resistant. However, please remember that they are water resistant only up to one meter and for no more than 30 minutes.

The devices have been IP67 certified as well.

Battery and Power

According to Apple, iPhone X offers improved battery that lasts longer than iPhone 7 by up to 2 hours. What’s more incredible is that the company has finally introduced wireless charging with X. You don’t have to plug iPhone X into the socket on the wall for charging. It features and inductive pad on which you lay your iPhone X in order to charge it. This iPhone can be charged with Qi inductive pads that are already in the market. That said, you can still charge this phone using a power adapter that can be plugged into the wall socket.

All the three models feature a lithium-ion battery that is built into the device. iPhone X and 8 Plus offer the wireless talk time of up to 21 hours while iPhone 8 only goes as far as 14 hours. Internet use is more or less the same at around 12 hours.

These phones are also fast charge capable allowing 50% charge in nearly 30 minutes. That’s pretty cool.

Operating System

Alright! Here comes another important part. We have been hearing quite a lot about iOS 11. In fact, Apple had rolled out the beta version for select devices in select regions. But, no one has yet explored the full potential of the latest iteration of iOS. Thanks to the new releases, you will now have access to the fully functional version of iOS 11.

All the three iPhone models will be pre-loaded with iOS 11. And, if Apple is to be believed, this OS offers the smartphone experience like never before.

Apple says that iOS 11 packs many new capabilities and features that make your device more powerful and effective. With this new OS, your iPhones will give you a more personalized experience. iOS 11 also makes the devices more intelligent than before.

With new features and capabilities that let you get more done quickly and easily, iOS 11 makes iPhone more powerful, personal, and intelligent than ever.

Accessibility Features

Accessibility features have been an important aspect of iPhones and other iOS devices. These features help the users with disabilities or different abilities use their devices in the best possible way. Apple promotes its new releases as more personal and humane. It has the built-in support for hearing, vision, motoer skills, and more. Some of the accessibility features include magnifier, voice over, zoom, Siri, Dictaation, closed captions, switch control, type to Siri and more.
