Moto 360 : A Round Smart Watch Powered By Android Wear

After selling the most successful phone Moto G, the company launched its first smartwatch, Moto 360.

The Moto 360 watch will run on Google’s Android Wear, which is a software platform made by Google for wearables products. LG also spoke out about its G watch, which is also based on Google’s Android Wear.

The former Google-owned company has confirmed that the Moto 360 watch will be available in various styles in summer 2014, starting in the US. The Moto 360 watch is being expected to come with a sub-$300 price tag.

The watch includes the “OK Google” feature, which lets user to say the command (OK Google) and do a voice search, send a text, get directions or even play a song.


The company has mentioned that the Moto 360 watch will have round face design and “premium’ build material. It will be available with interchangeable bands and supports all Smartphone running on Android Jellybean 4.3 or higher.

 In the promotional video, we did not find any charging connectivity and there is no facility to connect USB charger, headphones or anything else, which indicate that the Google powered watch will be released with wireless charging feature.

The Moto 360 watch will be water resistant, but the authority has not revealed any news that how much water the watch will be able to resist.

Motorola said that the Moto 360 wrist watch has been most popular fashion gadget of the century. The watch will be giant evolution in the modern technology from mechanical to electronics, analog to digital conversion due to its unique style and utility.

It is said that Moto 360 enclosed in stainless steel in the form of alloy 316L, which does not oxidize and turn black, and therefore widely used in the manufacture of jewelry and watches. The device is protected from water within the industry standard IP67: it can be immersed in water to a depth of one meter for up to half an hour without problems.

That Google is working various companies such as HTC, LG, Motorola, Asus and Samsung is going to launch its watches powered by Android later this year.

The company has touted that it is working with chip making firms like Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm including fashion brands like the Fossil Group for forthcoming android based fashionable watches.

For comparison; LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live and other smart watches on the  Android Wear platform, came out at 230 and 200 $ respectively.

Moto 360 Specifications

1. Smart watch is equipped with an optical sensor heart rate, pedometer, ambient light sensor, a vibration signal.

2. Autonomy without recharging is within two and a half days of normal use. In comparison to it, LG G Watch can survive somewhere day.

3. Moto 360 comes with a separate wireless inductive charging: smart enough to put a clock in a special cradle that is connected to a power source.

4. Leather strap and a removable standardized, it is easy to change to any other bracelet.

5. Moto 360 is compatible with almost any device that is running Android 4.3 and above.


At last, I would say that if you are looking for a wearable device, then you should wait for few more days. Moto 360 might be launched in the market soon.
